Shineemo Banaadir — Issue 2 is here!

Released in September 2024, our second issue is a special one for us. At its heart is Black Girl (1966): The Birth of Indigenous African Cinema, exploring the importance of Ousmane Sembène’s landmark film and its place in African cinema.

The issue also brings together essays and reviews on films and ideas including In Time (2011), Chunking Express (1994), Parasite (2019), Rashomon (1950), the relationship between cinema and the mind, and more.

We’re very happy that this issue is now available for you to read, own, and explore. It means a lot to us to see Shineemo Banaadir becoming something that people can hold onto, return to, and share.
